Healing with mindfulness, sobriety and connection to community.

Bienvenidos!

My name is Justine Saavedra. I am 33 years old and a 13th-generation New Mexican. My website is named Enchanted Coyote as an homage to my Mexican, Indigenous, and European roots. I live in Albuquerque with my wonderful husband Ben and our three dogs, Lexi, Titan, and Izzy.

I started this blog as a creative outlet after years of numbing myself with alcohol, perfectionism, and victimhood. The voice in my head screaming “You’re not good enough!” got so loud in 2020 that I set myself on a journey to gain control over my mind by studying mindfulness and spirituality. I was finally able to put down the bottle permanently on 12/26/21. I had no idea the magical roads that sobriety would lead me down at the time.

Since maintaining sobriety I have had the honor of reconnecting to the medicine of my ancestors— the practice of curanderismo. This traditional practice has roots in Mexican indigenous cultures and promotes healing of the whole person through body, mind, and spirit. I hope to spread the immense knowledge contained in this practice in New Mexico and throughout the world.

I use my education in biology and psychology, over 10 years of research experience, and practice of curanderismo to be in service to and an advocate for my community. I write about spiritual lessons I’ve learned, mindfulness techniques to explore, my journey with sobriety, and things that bring me joy, such as cooking, exploring New Mexico, and practicing herbalism. Gracias for exploring my small corner of the internet.

I’m just trying to find the pieces of magic I lost along the way, aren’t you?

My goal is to help those seeking sobriety and lost people looking for some guidance, to reclaim their life. Follow along and learn to experience all the joy life has to offer!

Follow my journey.
